Removal

How are kidney stones removed?

The treatment of kidney stones used to involve major surgery. However, an improved understanding of kidney stone disease, combined with recent advances in technology, has led to the development of alternative, less invasive approaches to the treatment of most kidney stones. The decision to choose one treatment over another is influenced by the number, size, location and composition of stones, as well as co-existing medical conditions and patient history.
